Reading, Phonics and Spelling

'Reading transforms the human brain, which transforms the mind, which transforms the life of every reader'

-Maryanne Wolf

Learning to read and spell are two of the most important academic skills children will learn at Primary school.

At Edwards Hall we use a range of resources to ensure that children develop these skills as effectively as possible.

Click on the link below to find out what resources are used at Edwards Hall to teach Reading, Spelling and Phonics.

In addition to these core resources, teachers use a range of engaging stimuli to motivate, interest and support children, including a range of modern and traditional fiction and non-fiction, current newspapers, physical artefacts, news programmes, film clips and animated film shorts.
